The Practical Side of Fashion

We all want to look and feel stylish, but we must consider the practical side of fashion during autumn and winter months. Lifestyle, budget and weather are factors to take into account when getting dressed.

At Ginger Laurier, we are always looking for innovative, practical, and stylish fashion. We have received gorgeous collections of clothing, footwear and accessories for the season.

A Mos Mosh puffer-style coat is great to wear during our winter season. This jacket has a high collar and a hood and is filled with lightweight down that is guaranteed to keep you cozy. Also, a sturdy zipper and side slits allow you to move comfortably.

We have a selection of cute, cozy knit hats. Additional colours and styles in blue, brown, and silver are also available.

Winter Footwear and Care

We want your feet to be comfortable. As the temperatures get colder, there will be wet, cold and possibly icy conditions to endure. We have several footwear options that are notable this season. Birkenstock, Olang, Blundstone, and Bos & Co footwear will keep your feet comfortable all season.

Our Olang boots perform well when you want extra traction in icy winter weather. We think it's important to stay safe while looking stylish. The stainless steel retractable cleats keep you stable on ice and snow. Also, your feet will stay dry and warm up to -30°C. We have many styles and colours so you can choose your favourite.

Olangs look stylish, and we have a boot for men, too.

Blundstone is an all-season classic leather pull-on boot that keeps you comfortable and dry. These Australian boots are leather-lined and made to keep your feet dry. We also have shearling insoles that provide extra warmth when inserted into your boots. We have sizes to fit women and men.

Always dry your Blundstone footwear at room temperature. When cleaning your Blundstone footwear, remove all dust and dirt. Clean with 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water solution. Apply a small amount of Blundstone Renovating Cream with a clean cloth, and once the cream has absorbed, buff to a shine.

The Blundstone Renovating Cream keeps your footwear from getting too dry, and the Blundstone Foam Polishing Pad works well for a quick clean to condition your smooth leather. A waterproof spray is perfect, too.

Birkenstock footwear is easy to care for. Don't store Birkenstocks in direct sunlight or extreme heat. A wet Birkenstock should be allowed to dry slowly in open air. Over time, the sealant on the cork sole will wear off and need resealing so they don't dry out.

We have Birkenstock care kits. The kit includes a cork sealer, water & stain repellent, cleaner & refresher, and a brush. We also have individual cork sealants for sale and are happy to give instructions on how to apply them.

Keep Knits Looking Good

We recommend investing in a good sweater shaver so knits and fabrics that have pilled over time look new again. These shavers are gentle, easy to use, and great if you want gift-giving ideas.

Our sweater shavers make care of your quality knits easy.

Handwashing

Some knits and delicates need to be washed by hand. Soak is a product we recommend for doing the job. This handwash soap product is made with plant-derived ingredients and is gentle and environmentally friendly. The best thing about Soak is it's a rinse-free product.

Soak is available in two sizes. The smaller 90 ml bottle is a perfect travel size.

Practical means smart, not boring. We want you to enjoy wearing quality pieces. If you take the time to care for them they will last many seasons.

If you have never been to our boutique, you will find us at 102, 52 McRae Street, in a brick building that faces out to the Old Town Square and is just down the street from the Okotoks sign. There is free parking on the street beside and at the back of our store.

Drop by soon. There is no need to rush when you're here, and we are always happy to see you. We are hoping you will take the time to enjoy looking at all the new collections.
